Dedicated to the spiny artichoke from Tricase, recovered by Masseria Nonno Tore, that is located on one of the most ancient way of communication of the low Salento that from Otranto led to Santa Maria di Leuca and date back to 18th century.

This room is a tribute to the heart of the agricultural tradition of Tricase, recovered by the will of two young people Carlo and Irene. What we tell is therefore a story of a tradition that is renewed and innovated, a pulsating recovery like our motor organ, the heart, to which the room is dedicated at the same time.

Carlo and Irene inherited the masseria of the great-grandfather Carlo, Tore. In the masseria you can taste local delicacies prepared with taste for the ancient, but also knowing, learning and get in touch with the local agricultural tradition, through laboratory activities. Carlo and Irene guarded a clone of the spiny artichoke of Tricase reached from their great-grandfather, so dated about 1846, that permitted them to give new life to this precious variety, becoming out-and-out bio-patriarchs.

We chose this element of the agricultural tradition of Tricase both because it is part of the hidden beauty of the territory, and for the concept of rebirth that symbolizes.
